Do You Know How To Create Your Own Home Solar Power?

So, you have heard of home solar power and want to employ it yourself in your own home. If you ask me, this would be one of the wisest choices you have ever made. As per my experience, a home solar power generator can result in multiple benefits for both you and your surroundings.

Some of the top benefits that I reaped and that you can also avail of include cutting down on power bills, tax incentives and benefits and a greener and more environmentally friendly home. If you are interested in setting up your own home solar power and do not know how to, then you are in the right place.

The following are steps on how to build your own home solar power system just like I did.

Calculate Your Power Needs

In order to build your own home solar power system, you need to know how much power your house utilizes in a day. This value can be found by going through your power bills. However, if you cannot do this then you should calculate your power needs on the basis of what appliances you use for how long in a day.

Calculate How Many Solar Calls You Need

Now, since you know how much power you need to generate, you can calculate how many solar cells you will need for your home solar power system. For example, a typical solar cell generates around two watts of power.

Once you know how many cells you need to meet your home solar power needs, you can go out there and buy solar cells. You should note that the cost of buying solar cells can be reduced if you go for used solar cells. These can be found through your local solar system installers or online websites.

Construct The Solar Frame

Now you need to prepare the frame for the solar cells of your home solar power system. This should be made of thin ply which should also be protected against UV rays.

Attach the solar cells to each other by soldering them together with tabbing wire. The configuration should be back to front till they form appropriate rows. Now, you need to attach these onto the prepared plywood by using silicone.

After attaching them to the plywood, these components of your home solar power system need to be wired together. This can be done by drilling holes at the back of the ply board.

Now, install flexi glass on top of the unfinished solar panels of your home solar power systems. Flexi glass should be attached on the border of the ply with silicone and all loose gaps must be sealed as well.

There also needs to be another hole at the back of the solar panels to allow them to breathe and prevent any moisture build up which can cause serious damage.

Wire Up The Solar Panel

Once the solar panels of your home solar power system are setup, the wires should be connected to the panels' junction box and from there on connected to the charge controller and batteries.

Although some steps in building your own home solar power system can be a bit more complicated than it seems here, I can personally say that only a bit of research will resolve the issue for you.
